Detec IntegriScan Certification is required to use this tool.

Generally, roofs had been tested by flooding with water, per ASTM D5957. Which has few drawbacks, or it is possible that roof cannot be flooded due to a slight slope. This is a non-destructive Electronic Leak Detection (ELD) per ASTM D7877 (Standard Guide for Electronic Methods for Detecting and Locating Leaks in Waterproofing Membranes). Cautions

Detec InteriScanner (as well as all other ELD technologies) requires a conductive substrate directly below the membrane for valid results. When testing conventional roofing assemblies, a conductive substrate such as Detec TruGround Conductive Primer, must be installed directly under the membrane during membrane installation.

Used on existing roofs to judge the integrity of the roof assembly for possible future damage from windstorm. It is a partially destructive test, because the roof assembly goes through the fatigue of negative pressure, and it is slightly lifted up after the test. So, it is imperative to resecure the tested area. Do not use on coal tar pitch roof in summer, as very low melting point of coal tar could result in false positive. It requires advance knowledge of testing and experience.

The 2″ x 2″ uplift plate is glued to the tiles. A waiting time of 24 hours is required to allow the adhesive to bond properly. The plate is grabbed by the pull tester using a female slotted adaptor which is attached to the Uplift pull tester. Then the plate is pulled off in direct tension using the hand crank of the Uplift pull tester and the corresponding pressure is applied. The gauge displays and registers the pull-out force.
